File — Box: 75, Folder: 25
Scope and Contents
- Barbara Thomas, executive secretary of the Council of Governments in Salt Lake County, talks about her early years in Idaho and then southern Utah, her attendance at Dixie State College and then the University of Utah, and her nearly lifelong involvement in local government. She worked for several years with the 5 County Association of Governments, then in Cedar City, before moving up to the Salt Lake area with her husband, who had taken a job at Kennecott. Ms. Thomas worked at American Express part-time for twenty-three years, and spent much of that time in local government, as a city council member and mayor pro tem. She finished her career at the Council of Governments and spends much of the interview describing the COG’s workings, the Wasatch Front Regional Council, funding, annexation and other local government issues.
