No.475 Dick Carter, 2008

 File — Box: 61, Folder: 10

Scope and Contents

  1. Carter (b. 1950) describes his early experiences with his dad, including a memorable trip to Mirror Lake in the High Uintas. He attributes his understanding of what wilderness meant to trips with his Dad when he was a young boy. Dick experienced an “awakening” in high school and college and knew he would be involved in wilderness somehow. Topics discussed include Cliff Merritt (described as “the elder of elders of elders” of the wilderness movement), the Wilderness Society, the Utah Wilderness Association, and the High Uintas Preservation Council. Carter currently concentrates all his efforts on the High Uintas wilderness.
  2. Utah Environmentalist Project.
