Scope and Contents

  1. Bastian (b. 1974) was born in Provo, Utah, but the family moved California and eventually settled in San Juan Batista, just east of Monterey. He recalls his childhood and speaks of the Teatro Campesino, a theater for farm workers. He describes his affinity for western novels; Louis L’Amour and and Zane Grey. After a series of menial jobs which supported his lifeas a ski bum at Solitude and Snowbird Ski Resorts, he was hired at the Save Our Canyons Project and later by the Utah Rivers Counsel. He discusses the environmental movement in Utah and the westnern U.S.
