Scope and Contents
- Caine Alder was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 14 December 1933. He grew up in the undeveloped foothills and enjoyed exploring caves, climbing mountains, skiing, and running rivers. He joined the Wasatch Mountain Club at a young age, was mentored by Jim Shane, and did many first ascents. Topics discussed include his exploration and measuring of Neff’s Cave, search and rescue operations, his love of mountaineering and friendship with Paul Petzoldt, he connection between the Ute Alpine Club and spelunking, environmentalism, skiing, and the history of hiking Timpanogos.
