Scope and Contents
- Linda Smith (b. 1940) recalls her early dance training with Virginia Tanner at the Children's Dance Theater in Salt Lake City. She talks at length about the formation of the Repertory Dance Theatre, and about the relationship between the Rockefeller Foundation, the company, and the University of Utah dance department. Other topics covered include Joan Woodbury, Shirley Ririe, choreography, Wayne Richardson, Don Michaelis, Don Anderson, touring, balancing a career in dance with family obligations, the functioning of an artistic democracy, and the place of dance in our culture.
