Scope and Contents
- Dixon (b. 1923) talks about his ancestry, childhood, and college experiences. He also discusses the medical school at the University of Utah both from the perspective of a student in the 1940s and as dean in the 1970s. He recalls his experiences with a MASH unit in the Korean war, as chairman of the Utah State Board of Health, and as a member of the Board of Regents for the University of Utah. He reminisces about working with various University presidents and faculty members and discusses the history of laser surgery and the artificial organ programs. Other topics covered include medical ethics, doctor/patient relationships, and malpractice.
