In this series of 8 interviews, Senator Moss (b. 1911) recalled his childhood growing up in Salt Lake County, his father, a noted Utah educator James E. Moss, his education in the public schools, at the University of Utah and later George Washington Law School, his marriage to Phyllis Hart, his work in Washington prior to WWII, his army service in WWII, his career as Salt Lake County Attorney and later as a judge, his entry into Democratic politics and winning the race as United States Senator, a position he held from 1958-1976. He listed his major accomplishments in the senate as the work he did on behalf of Utah water projects, creating national parks within the state, Great Salt Lake assistance, and banning television advertising for tobacco products. He discussed his activities since leaving the senate which included association with some law firms, his love of travelling and spending time with his family. Included with the interviews is an 18 page personal history that details his many accomplishments.
