Kelson (b. 1929), founder and former director of the Phoenix Institute and publisher of , recalls her youth in Salt Lake City, schooling at the University of Utah, marriage, and community service. She discusses her reasons for founding the Phoenix Institute, an organization devoted to helping women on welfare find and train for nontraditional jobs, and outlines several of their programs. She also talks about how grew out of the activities associated with the International Women's Year.
