Lobbyist gifts, Senators Ski Cup, 1994 May 11

 Item — cassette: 171

Scope and Contents

This video contains a news report on the cancellation of the Senators Ski Cup. The Senators Ski Cup was canceled because it was believed to have been a way for lobbyists to win over the popular vote of the senate on various political issues. Along with the cancellation of the Senators Ski Cup, restrictions were placed on what the senators could and could not accept. The restrictions include the termination of free trips and lunches, and the senators are no longer able to accept gifts from anyone but family and close friends.
