Skiing on the rocks, 1989 February 05-09

 Item — cassette: 67

Scope and Contents

This five part series on the struggles of the Utah ski industry was produced by KUTV news. Reporters claim that Utah resorts are falling behind the industry and cannot afford to catch up due to the Utah sales tax burden. As a consequence, several ski resorts are sold and some claim bankruptcy. In an interview with Snowbird's manager he discusses how the competition is beating Utah resorts and what Utah resorts plan to do to reach the top of the industry.
