Lyle Ward, Bennett's Salt Lake staff person, reported that Sherman Adames, a dishonored assistant to Pres. Eisenhower, was an issue in the 1958 campaign. Senator Arthur Watkins, running for election, faced stiff opposition from some within the Republican party who supported Governor Lee.
