Scope and Contents

  1. 1-6: Mr. Wiss sitting on the gravestone of Reverend John Sexsmith. Mr. Wiss is the great grand-nephew of the Reverend. After leaving the LDS Church, Oliver Cowdery was associated with Reverend Sexsmith’s Methodist church in Missouri, and when he died in 1850, Sexsmith oversaw his burial.
  2. 7: Gravestone of Hannah Downs, Southwest City, MO; Dec. 23, 1846 - September 9, 1906. Hannah Downs was the housekeeper for Dr. Charles Johnson, a son-in-law of Oliver Cowdery.
  3. 8: Gravestone of Dr. Charles Johnson, Southwest City, Missouri. Dr. Charles Johnson married Mary Louise Cowdery, daughter of Oliver.
  4. 9: Southwest City Cemetery, MO
  5. 10: Gravestones of Mary Louise (nee Cowdery) Johnson, wife of Dr. Charles Johnson and daughter of Oliver Cowdery. And E. A. Cowdery was the wife of Oliver Cowdery, Southwest City, Missouri.
  6. 11: Old Presbyterian Church in Southwest City, MO
