Scope and Contents

The Mickey Ibarra papers (1996-2001) contain White House memoranda, campaign materials, correspondence, calendars, and personal journals.

The materials found in this collection documents the operations of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affiars (IGA). The IGA serves as the President’s principal liaison to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments to build support for policy initiatives and respond to their concerns. The contents also include materials related to the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Included are photographs that have been transferred to the Multimedia Division of Special Collections.

The correspondence in the collection focuses on Ibarra's responsibilities with state and local officials, U.S. territories, tribal governments, and Latino leaders.

The personal materials in the collection consist of notebooks describing daily highlights and activities. Other materials include biographical information and a resume.

The presidential trip materials consist of booklets detailing travel, schedules, passenger manifests, background information, press plans, fact sheets, talking points, and political briefings. Ibarra roles in these trips was to interact with state and local officials and Latino leaders.
