Scope and Contents

From the Series: This series holds articles and technical papers that were written by authors other than Stokes. These items were mainly used in Stokes' research for his own writings. Stokes was multilingual, and many of these articles are written in some of the languages that he read. Religiously-based material is located in boxes 100-107, and is arranged in chronological order by publication date. These writings consists of publications by or about different religious organizations, and some of the discussion about the origin of man in the context of the creationism versus evolutionism debate. Boxes 108-169 contain material which is scientifically based. These items have been organized into two groups. The first group (boxes 108-126) contains technical papers covering topics such as water development, geological interests, nuclear energy, stratification, zoology, mining and mineral resources, archaeology, seismic activity, and others. These papers are arranged alphabetically by title, and each of them were commissioned by an organization (usually government based) for a specific project on its assigned topic. The second group (boxes 127-169) contains journal, magazine, and newspaper articles grouped in six categories, then arranged in chronological order by publication date. Documents in the first category contain information about geology and geophysics (earthquakes, volcanoes, topography, and mineral deposits) are located in boxes 127-143. Items written about archeological events such as fossil discoveries, paleontology, time line, or carbon age dating are contained in boxes 144-154. Articles written about the development of dinosaur attractions, theories of extinction for the dinosaurs, and information about dinosaurs themselves can be found in boxes 155-157. Articles relating to genetics research, the origin of man and his evolution, and modern medical advances are found in boxes 158-159. Articles dealing with outer space exploration and technology are located in boxes 160-163. Additional scientific topics, such as meteorology and climate control, psychology, oceanography, nuclear energy, fusion, biology, zoology, physics, art and cultural history, and entomology, are addressed in documents housed in boxes 164-169.
