Helen Nisenblatt (b. 1925) recalls traveling to America from St. Petersburg with one suitcase and a backpack. She was born in Odessa, and was educated in Russian Literature and English language and literature. She describes her experiences as a teacher and leaving Russia just ahead of the Germans during World War II.
