From the File: Letters of condolence-more than 300-and obituaries after Eccles' death, December 18, 1977. Eccles' funeral was held in Evans and Early Mortuary in Salt Lake City, with more than 500 in attendance. Though the funeral was not a Mormon ceremony, the invocation was offered by N. Eldon Tanner, a member of the First Presidency of the Mormon church and First Security Corporation's board of directors.
