From the File: Drafts, testimonies, and correspondence concerning the Banking Bill of 1935. Passage of the bill changed the name and structure of the Federal Reserve system and centralized its power in Washington, D.C., removing it from the control of the Federal Reserve Banks. Eccles believed the act, for which he was chiefly responsible, was his major accomplishment in Washington.
