Eccles' testimony before congressional committees concerning various economic issues, including the abolition of the Federal Reserve System (the Vandenberg letter); his conflict with Senator Harry F. Byrd over government spending (see box 40); capital aid to small industry and business; the Federal Home Loan Act; and the Patman Bill (non-interest bonds).
