The Everett L. Cooley oral history project is an ongoing oral history program designed to document the history of Utah with an emphasis on the interaction between the University of Utah and the local and regional communities.

The Everett L. Cooley papers (1775-2006) consist of autobiographical information, articles, book reviews, papers, correspondence, manuscripts, documents, oral history materials, speeches, meeting minutes, recommendations, memos, newsletters, bulletins, programs, and newspaper clippings. Cooley is professor emeritus of history at the University of Utah and the retired director of special collections in the University of Utah Marriott Library.

Everett L. Cooley was director of the Utah State Historical Society, and a Curator of Special Collections, Marriott Library. This collection contains portraits of Everett Cooley and various members of the Cooley family, as well as slides documenting activities in Special Collections at the University of Utah and copy slides and copy prints of historic sites in Utah.

The John James, Jr. photograph collection consists of two thermal print copies of images of John James, Jr. and his parents.
