The Sonia Johnson papers (1958-1983) contain materials dealing with her excommunication from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her campaign in support of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the group "Mormons for ERA" between the years 1978 and 1982.

The Sonia Johnson photograph collection contains photographs and slides of Equal Rights Amendment demonstrations in Salt Lake City and elsewhere. Also in the collection are photographs taken from television of the excommunication trial of Sonia Johnson as well as some miscellaneous photographs.

The Phyllis Baker Van Wagenen correspondence (1979, 1982) consists of a postcard and a letter both written by Sonia Johnson to Van Wagenen. Johnson writes about her involvement with the Equal Right Amendment and thanks Van Wagenen for her support.
