Abstract The Charles James Neal papers (1911-1991) consists of documents and souvenirs pertaining to Neal's discoveries and experiences while living in Utah. Neal was responsible for constructing the first telephone lines in the Uintah Basin, Utah. He also discovered gilsonite in Ft. Duschesne, Utah.

It also includes pictures of the Uintah Stage and Railway, the Uintah (Vernal) Telephone Company, Dinosaur National Monument, a number of gilsonite mining companies, several dozen petroglyphs, and many miscellaneous Uintah County scenes.
