Abstract The Byron Marchant papers (1885-2017) contains writings on LDS early history. Included is a reproduction of an unpublished and published manuscript, "Sidney Rigdon, The Real Founder of Mormonism," by William Whitsitt (1885). A paper, "Mormon Exaggerations," and a transcript of a speech, "Mormonism's Connection to the British Enlightenment," both by Marchant, continue the development of the perspectives presented in Whitsitt's book.
